Graumagus is feelin’ frisky

My fellow asshole (and creator of the “Blogsniper” graphic) over at Frizzen Sparks is feelin’ a bit frisky tonight, having a good laugh about the “We’re so sorry” website that has been posting photos of people holding signs for the camera.

Graumagus, if you haven’t guessed (and didn’t see the warnings posted on his site) is flapping that right wing pretty hard. Okay, Grau, I have one question for you: in your own opinion, what has Dubya done wrong?

As a Bush supporter, you have mentioned many of the things you think the President has done right in the last four years, and I agree on a few points. Now that he has won by a slim majority (49-51 isn’t much of a gap now, is it?), what should the Prez be doing differently than he has in the past? No man is perfect, and the general swelling of bad feelings the world over towards our country in general and our President in particular have to have some basis in reality. Let’s put aside our political differences and try to change things for the better.

(Hey, if you’re really going to bulldoze all those fences, that means I get to play in your yard, right? :) )

Take your time on this, and give us a full list of the changes you want to see in this administration. When you’ve got it all down, you and I can hash it out and write the whole thing up with both of our opinions and mass-mail it to Congress and the President together.

Oddly enough, everyone seems to think that 49-51 isn’t that great, but keep in mind that Bill Clinton never got that majority. He didn’t even come close to the popular vote talley that Bush received. And Clinton is the fucking golden boy of the left.

As far as what Bush has done wrong, hell, my major gripe is illegal immigration. He…just like every other POS in politics today doesn’t want to enforce laws that are already on the books. These laws are adequate, and if enforced would eliminate the problem. I am sick of hearing about “new” (read as “unenforced”) laws for illigals.

Just letting you know that I will respond to this in detail soon (IE: I’m not blowing you off).
I’ll be lucky to check my mail the next couple days.

Ok, here’s my list of things I think the Bush Administration has done wrong…

Immigration- Giving massive amounts of illegal aliens (I refuse to use the term “undocumented workers”) and making it easier to cross the border is pure freakin’ madness. Leave aside for a moment the huge burden large groups of illegals put on social services and the like (which, except for emergency medical care, they should be instantly denied and deported) having such porous borders is just an invitation for some asshole looking to score his 72 virgins to cross and do bad things. If the coyotes can get hundreds of immigrants across undetected at a time, they can easily get a dozen Jihadists in, and for the money the Arab’s put out I have no doubt they’d do it without reservations. This goes for the U.S./Canada border as well.

    Iraq-
#1- I agree we needed to invade (don’t get me started on the WMD thing. People have some really short goddamn memories, everyone regarded that intelligence as accurate and to say that “Bush Lied!” is disingenuous at best). The timetable for rebuilding and the estimates of how we’d be received by the Iraqi people were so unrealistic they don’t even qualify as a best case scenario. Ditto that with the financial estimations. That pissed me off.

#2- Falluhjah- This should have been taken care of the first time. We need to stop directing our military operations based on world opinion. They already hate us, end of story, get the job done.

#3- Embedded reporters: Why in the name of god are we allowing these asshole to undermine our military from within? Ditch them, NOW. They can get updates from Stars & Stripes.

#4- Get the proper equipment to all our troops, including the National Guardsmen. If you’re going to use them like line troops, make sure their equipped like them. This would include streamlining the military acquisition process and purchasing gear from suppliers in other countries if need be (IE: Humvees. There are countries that produce similar kinds of vehicles that are actually better than what we have. We should swallow our pride and buy some if our suppliers can’t provide them to us fast enough).

#5- Adopt a strict “If there are weapons found in a Mosque, it’s no longer a holy building and will be demolished” policy. And start searching Mosques. ALL OF THEM.

Second Amendment- Bush should have never said he would resign the AWB. He’s also not doing nearly enough to restore the rights that have been eroded by years of democrats whittling away. Republicans should take heed that we gun owners who generally support them are a surly, individualistic lot whose votes may not be there the next time they need them if they keep letting us get trampled on.

Un-funded or under-funded mandates: No Child Left Behind- Great idea. Making cash strapped states somehow pony up the money they don’t have- no so great. I hate un-funded mandates of any kind.

The United Nations: We should withdraw and kick them out of our country. In all honesty, however, the only thing this has to do with Bush is that he’s currently in office. This has been my opinion since Reagan was in office.

Foreign Aid- Stop giving money to anybody. If I want to pay to cure AIDS in Africa, I’ll send a damn donation, period. I’m heartily tired of the USA footing the lions share of the bill for things and being shit on by the people receiving the handout. It’s time to stop.

ANWAR- The refinery should already be built. And speaking of refineries, it’s about time we had some of our own instead of having to rely on OPEC to brew the ridiculous amount of different gas blends required by the EPA.

We need to start convicting people of treason again when warranted, and executing them. Perfect example is John Walker Lindh (the “American Taliban” guy who was captured in Afghanistan). He should have hanged, period.

Repeal the McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Reform Bill. It’s a violation of the 1rst Amendment, period. Not to mention that it’s worthless. All it does is stifle grassroots activism while encouraging ultra-wealthy assholes like George Soros to dump unlimited funds in 527’s like MoveOn.org.

Reduce crime by making concealed carry laws national, and make sure they pre-empt all unconstitutional local handgun banning laws in places like NYC, Chicago, Washington D.C., etc. The laws are only disarming the innocent in these areas.

Ok, that’s a start, I’m sure I’ll think of more later when I don’t have the kids rampaging through the house like wolverines on crank.
